Inspiration for your birth announcement

A birth announcement for a girl can be soft and calm, but also cheerful, colorful, or a bit quirky. Think of an illustration of your family, flowers surrounding her name, or an animal you’d love to include. Take a look at my previous birth announcements to see what appeals to you.

A birth announcement with your baby girl in the lead role

Which little things define your family? Maybe a stuffed animal that’s already waiting, your cat that wants to be involved in everything, or a favorite spot in nature. Details like these give me a starting point for drawing. They make the card recognizable to the people who know you.

A big brother or sister can also be included, of course. Think of a little hand on the edge of the crib or your children together with the pet. We’ll discuss how your family will be featured in the illustration and which details are important.

Don’t have a clear vision yet? A few photos, the colors of the nursery, or a description of what you like is a great start. I’ll use those to create an initial sketch.

Flowers, animals, or a clean design: what suits you?

For your daughter, you choose the atmosphere yourself. Pink can be beautiful, but green, lilac, warm earth tones, or a bold color combination might suit you just as well.

  • Flowers and nature. A favorite flower, a branch, or a landscape can be the starting point for the illustration.
  • Animals with character. Your own pet or an animal you love gives the design something recognizable.
  • Sweet and calm. Soft colors, a few drawn details, and space around the name keep the card clean and clear.
  • Playful and colorful. A cheerful scene with your family leaves room for little jokes and personal details.

We don’t have to put everything on the card at once. I’ll help you choose what works well together, so that both the illustration and her name stand out beautifully.

How I create your custom birth announcement

I draw the illustration specifically for you. So you’re not just choosing a different name or color in an existing design. You’ll be involved during the design process and can provide feedback.

  1. Discussing your wishes. We’ll discuss the idea, the due date, and what you need. After that, you’ll receive a no-obligation quote. Once approved, I’ll start drawing.
  2. A rough hand sketch. I’ll develop your ideas into a sketch. You let me know what you like and what you’d like to change.
  3. Developing the illustration digitally. Once the sketch is to your liking, I’ll add colors and details. I’ll send this version over for feedback as well.
  4. Delivering the design. I’ll prepare the files in the agreed dimensions. You can choose to receive digital files or have me handle the printing as well.

Read more about my process. Feel free to get in touch during your pregnancy; we can then discuss the planning and how we’ll process the final details after the birth.

Your design, digital or as a printed birth announcement

Would you like to choose your own printer, or would you prefer me to handle the printing? Both are possible. With my background as a graphic designer, I can format the files perfectly for the intended use.

We’ll discuss the size, the number of cards, and your preferences for the paper. If you’ve already found a printer, please send over the delivery specifications. For special finishes, we’ll check what’s possible beforehand.

We can also include matching envelopes, seal stickers, or a poster for the nursery in the design. This way, a detail from the birth announcement can reappear in multiple places.

What text will go on your daughter’s card?

The illustration catches the eye, but the text tells everyone the news. Start thinking about what information you’d like to share:

  • Her name and any middle names.
  • The date of birth and, if you like, the time, weight, and length.
  • Your names and those of any big brothers or sisters.
  • A short welcome sentence, a personal poem, or a sweet message.
  • Contact details and any wishes regarding visits.

Preliminary details are enough to discuss the layout. Do agree on which details need to be filled in after the birth and check the final text before printing. I’ll take the space your text needs into account in the design.

Do you already have an idea for her card? Tell me about it. I’d love to hear what you have in mind.
