How Does the Design Process Work?
We first discuss your wishes and the due date, by phone or email. After that, I will provide a suitable quote. Once you approve, I start with a rough hand sketch. I send this over for feedback. If the sketch is to your liking, I develop the illustration digitally with colors and personal details. You will also get to see this digital version, so that we can work towards the final design together.
When should you get in touch?
Please get in touch during your pregnancy and mention your due date. The design process takes an average of three to six weeks. In addition, allow time for printing and sending the cards. We will discuss in advance whether your wishes and the schedule align. You don’t need to have a fully developed idea at the first point of contact.
What is included in the design?
I create an original illustration for your birth announcement card, from the first sketch to the digital finalization, with opportunities for feedback. We establish in the quote beforehand what I will create for you and which files you will receive. You can choose to purchase only the digital design or have me handle the printing as well. Printing and any extras, such as envelopes, closure stickers, or a matching poster, are discussed separately.
Birth details and printing
Has your little one been born? Please send the final birth details to me by email. Think of the name and date of birth and, if you want them on the card, the time of birth, weight, and length. Double-check the spelling and numbers carefully before sending them. I will add the details to the design.
If I am also handling the printing, the cards will then be printed and sent. Allow approximately three days for this. This is the time for printing and dispatch; delivery time is additional.
